It’s almost over.
Well as my loyal fans know, I haven’t posted in a while. Somewhere in between walking to Palladium in the rain to find it closed and ending up in the emergency room last sunday, I just haven’t had the time.
But it’s been one crazy semester, and tomorrow is sadly, my last day of class. I’ll always remember my semester not abroad, and how little I managed to blog about it.
Hope you all enjoyed my journey, now go out there and have your own!

robisnotabroad is actually going abroad to spain for a few days so….yeah…this is awkward.
Running in the city
Went running today, not through some beautiful villa or down a Czech river or some magical spanish garden, but on the roof of Coles. My views included some deli’s, some run down apartment buildings, and the angelika.
Oh NYC apartment buildings, how I love thee!
So firstly, a package was attempted to be delivered to my building on saturday, but no one was there to buzz them in and I don’t have a front desk, so they left a slip saying “sorry we missed you, go to this website blah blah.” So I went and requested re-delivery for Monday, and of course, it is now 11pm monday, and I did not receive my package today, but that’s alright, because now I can just walk to the post-office and wait in long line to find out what the deal is, which I’ve been told is a really authentic NYC experience.
Secondly, my shower’s pressure is kinda lame and the shower drain is really slow, so I called the super for the third time today, asking him to look at it. He said “Sure, what time” I said “Anytime before 4pm.” Well, silly Super, 4pm came and went, and he called me at 4:45pm on my way to class. He said “where are you?” I explained I was on my way to class, and he explained he thought I said “anytime after 4pm, and that he would come tomorrow.”
This is so fun! It’s like playing a game, where I just wait long periods of time in my apartment for something to come, but it never does!
(As a serious aside, I actually love my apartment)
Got my macbook back!
So even though they said it’d be a 5 day repair, they gave me a little bonus time, and made it an 11 day repair. But hey, at least it only took me 20 minutes of waiting in the store for them to find the computer in the back and give it back to me, that’s not so bad right?
First week of NY classes in the books!
My walk to class is beautiful!! OMG! I walk up second ave past like thirty indian restaurants, across St. Marks, which is the quaintist, nicest little block, then cross the nearly deserted Cooper Square, where this is absolutely no construction going on at all, and then down Broadway past a Mcdonalds and some homeless people. All this before entering the wonderful Tisch Building at 721 Broadway, which I bet would be even more beautiful if there wasn’t so much scaffolding on it.
Laundry Day!
Well the launderette across the street closed early today, so I had to carry my giant hamper of laundry about 5 blocks to the next closest laundromat. Where it cost me $4.50 to do a wash, and $2.50 to do a dryer. It went smoothly besides the extra walk, so all in all, pretty uneventful and uninteresting. Classic NYorkC!
I got assaulted on the subway platform
In a grimey hot, NYC, subway platform in Brooklyn. I was sitting a few seats down from a pretty sketchy looking guy. About ten minutes later he starts swearing at me and yelling at me out of nowhere. Telling me to get the fuck outta here and how he was gunna kill me and how to cut the shit out. I was sitting in complete silence the whole time. I tried reasoning with him for 10 seconds, then just got up and walked away as everyone on the platform looked onward. It sucked. Don’t you love NYC! Clubbing capital of the world baby, let’s go to Still tomorrow! Anyone down?
